Abstract:

To provide a production method for easily obtaining a zirconica microparticle having a high crystallinity, a small particle diameter and a large specific surface area.

The production method sequentially comprises: a step of obtaining a melt containing, expressed in terms of molar percent on an oxide basis, 3-30% ZrO2, 10-55% RO (provided that R is at least one chosen from the group consisting of Ba, Sr, Ca, Mg and Zn) and 30-80% B2O3; a step of quenching the melt to obtain an amorphous substance; a step of heating the amorphous substance to obtain a deposit containing a zirconia crystal; and a step of separating the zirconia crystal from the deposit to obtain the zirconia microparticle.
