PURPOSE: To produce microcapsules housing a reducing agent without reducing the amt. of the reducing agent.
CONSTITUTION: Microcapsules housing silver halide, a reducing agent, a color image forming substance, a polymerizable compd. and a precursor of a base are produced in the presence of a compd. represented by a formula R1-COOH (where R1 is 6-40C substituent which makes the compd. represented by this formula practically insoluble in water).
