Abstract:
To produce a vaterite/calcite mixed crystal type spherical calcium carbonate by adding sodium carbonate or introducing carbon dioxide into a calcium chloride solution containing magnesium sulfate thereby performing carbonation reaction.
The vaterite/calcite mixed crystal type spherical calcium carbonate having properties suitably usable as a filler for paper, rubber, cosmetic, medicine, plastic and coating material similar to the other vaterite type spherical calcium carbonate is inexpensively and easily obtained by adding sodium carbonate or introducing carbon dioxide into the calcium chloride solution containing magnesium sulfate to perform the carbonation reaction.
