Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a production process capable of easily controlling the isomer ratio of 4-alkylcyclohexanol and provide a new and useful process capable of stably and industrially producing 4-alkylcyclohexanol having a desired cis-isomer ratio.
CONSTITUTION: The nucleus of a p-alkylphenol is hydrogenated in the presence of a mixed catalyst consisting of a noble metal catalyst and a base metal catalyst. The weight ratio of the noble metal catalyst (A) to the base metal catalyst (B) is preferably 10/90 to 50/50.
