Title:
PRODUCTION OF MODIFIED POLYOLEFIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05310858
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce a modified polyolefin of improved reactivity by grafting a glycidyl compound of a specified formula onto a polyolefin by repeating the operation of adding the glycidyl compound to the polyolefin and effecting a reaction there between. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. polyolefin is introduced into a kneader, and 3-30 pts.wt. glycidyl compound and optionally 0.1-5 pts.wt. polymerization initiator such as benzoyl peroxide are added in 2-10 divided portions to the kneader, melted and grafted onto the polyolefin to obtain a modified polyolefin of excellent reactivity. Examples of the polyolefin include an alpha-olefin polymer such as PP of a melt flow rate of 0.01-100 g/10min, an alpha-olefin copolymer rubber such as an ethylene/propylene copolymer rubber of a melt flow rate of 0.01-50g/10 min and a mixture thereof. An example of the glycidyl compound as the graft monomer is a glycidyl compound of formula I (Wherein R is H or 1-6 C alkyl; Ar is a 6-20 C aromatic hydrocarbon group containing a glycidyloxy group; and n is 1-4) such as a compound of formula II.
