Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain myxol useful as an antioxidant having strong oxidation- resistant force and free from mutagenicity by culturing a microorganism having ability producing myxol in a medium and then collecting myxol from the cultured mixture.
CONSTITUTION: A microorganism which belongs to the genus Flavobacterium and having ability producing myxol, e.g. A99-3 strain (FERMP-13903) is cultured in a medium and the resultant bacterial cell and cultured medium are purified to provide the objective myxol expressed by the formula. Myxol is preferably contained in an amount of 0.05-5wt.% in an antioxidant.
