Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a nitrile in high yield, started from an alkane as raw mate rial using an oxide made up of Nb and/or Ta, Cr Mo, Bi and specified kind of metal(s) as catalyst but without using any halide or water, etc., in the system.
CONSTITUTION: This nitrile can be obtained by vapor phase catalytic oxidation between an alkane and ammonia in the presence of a catalyst which is, an oxide of formula I or II (X is Nb and/or Ta; Y is at least one element selected from Te, In, W, Ti, Al, Zr, Mn, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ni, Pd, Pt, Sb, Bi and Ce; when a is 10, b=0.5-5, c=0.2-5, d=0.2-5, and e=0-5; (n) is determined depending on the oxidized states of the other elements). For example, and oxide of formula II can be prepared by incorporating an aqueous solution containing a specified amount of ammonium paramolybdate with an aqueous nitric acid solution of bismuth nitrate, an aqueous solution of niobium ammonium oxalate and an aqueous solution of chromium nitrate each at a specified amount successively, followed by evaporation to dryness and then baking.
