Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide an optical disk having excellent durability by laminating and forming a 1st protective film, recording film and 2nd protective film successively on a substrate which is constituted by forming a thin film consisting of a polymer by plasma polymn. of an org. metal compd. on a resin substrate, then converting the surface of the thin film to a thin film of an amorphous oxide by plasma oxidation. CONSTITUTION:An org. metal compd. such as org. silicon compd. which has an inorg. matter-like functional group (for example, -SiOH) within the molecule is gasified and radiations are projected thereto or said compd. is exposed to plasma environment to induce polymn. by cutting the double bonds, by which the polymer film is formed on the resin substrate. This surface is then oxidized to the inorg. matter (for example, amorphous SiO) and the 1st protective film, recording film and 2nd protective film are laminated and formed thereon in the same manner as heretofore. The surface of the resin substrate is converted to radicals and is held in contact with the polymer film if such method is used; therefore, said surface has good adhesiveness and since the surface of the polymer film is oxidized to the inorg. matter, the adhesiveness to the 1st protective film is good. The durability of the magneto-optical disk is thereby improved.
