Title:
PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL FIBER BUNDLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5950408
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce continuously accurate regular hexagonal bundles without deformation, by laminating successively tape-shaped optical fiber bundles, which are formed by increasing the number of optical fibers successively by one, on a reference tape and putting one on the other of two sets of inverted trapezoidal half materials, which are formed by said lamination, in opposite directions.

CONSTITUTION: Respective tapes of optical fibers are pulled out from take-up drums D0WDX-1 where a reference tape-shaped optical fiber C0, where optical fibers are arranged in parallel and connected to one another to constitute one side of the hexagon of the optical fiber bundle with a regular hexagonal end face to be formed, and tape-shaped optical fibers C1WCX-1, which are formed by one optical fiber F successively, are wound, and these pulled-out tapes are laminated in order through an adhesive applying device 1, and an inverted trapezoidal half material 18 close in six directions is formed by plate bodies 5 and 8 of an arrangement guiding jig 2 and driving and press rolls 16 and 17. Two sets of half materials 18 are piled in opposite directions and are allowed to adhere to each other, thus producing continuously optical fiber bundles with a regular hexagonal end face easily and surely.
