PURPOSE: To provide the apparatus for production of the optical fiber preform which can correctly create the concn. distribution of the refractive index imparting agent in the optical fiber preform.

CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber preform 6 consisting of a core part 6a and clad 6b is formed by depositing glass particles synthesized in flames 2a, 3a of a core burner 2 and a clad burner 3 at the front end of a seed rod 5 in a reaction vessel 1. The glass particulates are regulated by the sound waves which are generated by a sound wave generator and are guided by a sonic guide 8, by which the glass particlulates are deposited on the front end of the seed rod 5.
