Title:
PRODUCTION OF OPTICALLY ACTIVE ALCOHOLS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3689968
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound having a high optical purity by using an inexpensive and industrially available boron metal hydride as a hydrogen source.
SOLUTION: This optically active alcohol is obtained by effecting (B) (i) asymmetric ketones of the formula R6-CO-R7 [R6, R7 are each a different (substituted) alkyl, a (substituted) aryl, etc.] and (ii) and acid such as a Broensted acid, a lewis acid, etc., to the mixture of (A) (i) an optically active β-amino alcohol of the formula [R1 is H, a lower alkyl or a (substituted) aralkyl; R2 to R5 are each H, a lower alkyl, a (substituted) aryl, a (substituted) aralkyl, etc.] and (ii) a borane compound obtained from a boron hydride or a boron metal hydride and an acid. Further, the optically active β-amino alcohol is used by 0.01-0.5 molar times (preferably by 0.02-0.4 molar times) the asymmetric ketones.
