Abstract:
To provide a method for producing o-chlorostyrene from ethylbenzene in one step in high conversion and high selectivity.
Ethylbenzene is reacted with a chlorination agent in the presence of a reaction initiator and a zeolite catalyst to produce the objective o- chlorostyrene. The chlorination agent is at least one compound selected from chlorine gas, thionyl chloride, sulfuryl chloride, phosgene, an organic chlorine compound and a metal chloride.
