PURPOSE: To consistently obtain the subject mixture having improved color, smell and stability and useful as a tackifier for an adhesive, a sizing agent for a paper making, etc., by performing the salt forming reaction of a specific stabilized and partially esterified rosin with a specific metallic compound.

CONSTITUTION: This rosin mixture is obtained by performing a salt forming reaction of (A) a stabilized and partially esterified rosin synthesized from a stabilized rosin having ≤1 Gardener color scale (e.g. obtained by disproportionating or hydrogenating an unpurified rosin, purifying, partially esterifying to 10-80 equivalent % esterifying ratio, and then hydrogenating or dehydrogenating) and alcohols, with (B) a metallic compound containing lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium or zinc.
