PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compd. having antibiotic action characteristics in the vicinity of room temp. within a short reaction time in high yield by using a specific azetizinone deriv. as a raw material to react the same with a trivalent organophosphorus compd.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. represented by formula I (X is O or S; R1 is H, a 1-4C alkyl, a 1-12C alkoxy, a 1-12C alkylthio, a phenoxy, a phenyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyloxy, etc.; R2 is H or a usual carboxyl protective group being a group capable of being removed by hydrolysis, photolysis, oxidation, reduction or enzyme; R3 is H, a 1-4C alkyl or a 1-4C alkenyl) is reacted with trivalent organophosphorus compd. represented by formula II (R6 is a 1-4C alkyl and R4 and R5 are each a 1-4C alkyl, aryl, etc.), pref. in a solvent such as tetrahydrofran at 20-70°C to obtain a compd. represented by formula III.
