Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new production method of perfluoroalkanes in which the perfluorination takes place rapidly and without the formation of by-products or decomposition products.
CONSTITUTION: Perfluoroalkanes which are substantially free of polyfluoroalkanes are produced by reacting a mixture containing perfluoroalkanes and polyfluoroalkanes with a reaction gas selected from a group containing fluorine and fluorine/inert gas mixture. The process is carried out using the reaction gas containing 40 to 100 vol.% of fluorine and 0 to 60 vol.% of inert gas, at a pressure of 4 to 12 bar (absolute) and at a temp. of 75 to 120°C.
