Title:
PRODUCTION OF PHOSPHORIC ESTER OLIGOMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3558457
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phosphoric ester oligomers which is excellent in compatibility with resins and flame retardancy and is useful as a flame retarder for resins by means of a small type installation by reaction of phosphorus oxychloride with a monohydric phenol and a dihydric phenol in the presence of a catalyst, as the maximum liberation rate of hydrogen chloride is controlled lower than a specific value.
SOLUTION: In the presence of a catalyst (for example, anhydrous aluminum chloride), phosphorus oxychloride, a dihydric phenol (for example, 2,2-bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)propane and a monohydric phenol (for example, phenol) are subjected to the reactions represented by the formulas [Ar(OH)2 is a dihydric phenol; ROH is a monohydric phenol; n is an integer of 1-10] to synthesize phosphoric aryl ester oligomer mainly comprising oligomers of n=1 in the formulas. In this reaction process, the maximum liberation rate of hydrogen chloride is controlled to ≤2mol/hr per mole of the starting dihydric phenol throughout the fore and latter reaction steps whereby the objective phosphoric ester oligomers useful as a flame retarder for resins are efficiently obtained.
