PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition having excellent storage stability, providing a coating film having excellent appearance, finishing properties and durability by dispersing a pigment with a hydroxyl group-containing vinyl-based polymer and a silane compound and then blending the pigment dispersion with a specific vinyl-based polymer.
CONSTITUTION: (C) A pigment is dispersed with (A) a hydroxyl group-containing vinyl-based polymer and (B) a silane compound (preferably tetramethoxysilane). Then the pigment dispersion is mixed with (d) a hydrolyzable silyl group- containing vinyl-based polymer of the formula (R1 is an alkyl, an aryl, etc.; X is a halogen, an alkoxy, etc.; (k) is 1-3) to give the objective composition. The component A is preferably obtained by copolymerizing 5-15wt.% of a hydroxyl group-containing vinyl-based monomer composed of 2-hydroxyethyl (meth) acrylate and 2-hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate with another vinyl-based monomer. The component D, for example, is obtained by copolymerizing γ- methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane with a (meth)acrylic acid ester.
