Abstract:

PURPOSE:To obtain a polycarbonate excellent in heat resistance, hydrolysis resistance and hue by adding a phosphite compound to a specified polycarbonate. CONSTITUTION:A phosphite compound desirably comprising a compound of the formula is added to a polycarbonate obtained by melt polycondensation through transesterification between a dihydroxy compound [e.g. 2,2-bis(hydroxyphenyl)-propane] and a bisaryl carbonate (e.g. diphenyl carbonate) in the presence of a transesterification catalyst (e.g. potassium borohydride).
