Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer containing a functional group at the end, readily convertible to another functional group by using a metal element-containing compound and a specific radical source containing a functional group as an initiator and radical-polymerizing a polymerizable monomer in an organic solvent or in a solventless state. CONSTITUTION:A metal element-containing compound and one or more compounds shown by formula I [n is 0-4 integer; R<1> is H or (substituted) 1-4C alkyl; X is functional group such as hydroxy, carboxy, amino, epoxy, aziridinyl, oxazolinyl, azulactone or halogen; Y is group shown by formula II (R<2> is H, 1-4C alkyl, phenyl, etc.), formula III (R<4> is as shown for R<2>) or formula IV (R<5> and R<6> are as shown for R<2>)] are used as an initiator and a polymerizable monomer is radical-polymerized in an organic solvent or in a solventless state to give the objective polymer containing a functional group at the end.
