Abstract:
PURPOSE: The copolymerization of a sulfonated hydroxydicyclopentadiene with monomers copolymerizable there with gives the titled novel polymer having good action of surface activation and cement dispersion.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A sulfonated hydroxydicyclopentadiene of the formula (M is H, alkali or alkaline earth metal, ammonium, amine; n is 1,2) or a mixture thereof with (B) a monomer copolymerizable therewith such as acrylic acid is polymerized in the presence of, e.g., an acidic catalyst such as sulfuric acid, prferably at 80W180°C to give the objective polymer. The compound A is obtained by sulfonation of hydroxydicyclopentadiene with a sulfonating agent such as an alkali metal acidic sulfite.
