Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject particles useful as a carrier for diagnostics having a large specific gravity and a narrow range in the distribution of particle size distribution by polymerizing a monomer in a solution dissolving a specific monomer into an oily monomer in a medium comprising lower alcohol and water under stirring. CONSTITUTION:A monomer [preferably pentachlorophenyl (meth)acrylate, etc.] expressed by the formula (R<1> and R<2> are H or lower alkyl; R<3> is 2-3C alkylene, substitutable with OH; X is halogen; (m) is 0-10; (n) is 1-5) is dissolved in an oily monomer (preferably styrene or alpha-methylstyrene, etc.) to obtain a monomer solution and the solution is polymerized in a medium composed of 30-80vol% lower alcohol (preferably ethanol) and 70-20vol% water under stirring to afford the objective particles.
