Title:
PRODUCTION OF POLYMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3716146
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing in vivo degradable polymers which can efficiently produce polymers high in purity and reduced in the amount of the remaining catalyst.
SOLUTION: A process for producing an in vivo degradable polymer having a free carboxyl group at its ω-end comprises subjecting a cyclic ester compound to polymerization reaction in the presence of a hydroxy monocarboxylic acid derivative in which the carboxyl group is protected or a hydroxy dicarboxylic acid derivative in which the carboxyl groups are protected, and subjecting the resulting polymer having a protected carboxyl group at its ω-end to the protective-group elimination reaction. This process can easily adjust the molecular weight of the in vivo degradable polymer and the amount of the free carboxyl group and can efficiently produce polymers high in purity and reduced in the amount of the remaining catalyst.
