Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce a polyoxymethylene copolymer having improved thermal stability in high efficiency. CONSTITUTION:A polyoxymethylene copolymer is produced by using trioxane as main monomer and a cyclic ether or cyclic formal as a comonomer and copolymerizing the monomers in the presence of a catalyst composed of boron trifluoride or its coordination compound. In the above process, the total amount of impurities to form unstable terminals in the reaction system is suppressed to <=1X10<-2>mol% based on the total monomer, the amount of the catalyst for the polymerization reaction is adjusted to 1X10<-3> to 1X10<-2>mol% based on the total monomer and the copolymerization product is cooled to <=45 deg.C within 30sec after the copolymerization to inactivate the catalyst.
