Abstract:

PURPOSE: To accurately separate quartz powder contg. bubbles from quartz powder hardly contg. bubbles by subjecting quartz powder to heavy liq. separation.

CONSTITUTION: Quartz powder contg. bubbles is separated by heavy liq. separation and quartz powder hardly contg. bubbles is recovered as sediment. When the recovered quartz powder hardly contg. bubbles is used as raw material for quartz glass, a high quality transparent quartz crucible having high strength and withstanding a process for pulling a silicon single crystal can be produced. The pref. specific gravity of the heavy liq. is 2.14-2.18 and Clerici soln., methylene iodide or ethane tetrabromide may be used as the heavy liq.
