Title:
PRODUCTION OF REACTIVE FLAME-RETARDANT PHENOLIC RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6185429
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled resin giving a laminated sheet having excellent flame-retardance and electrical characteristics, and free from warpage and twist, by reacting a novolac phenolic resin modified with an aralkyl ether, with a specific compound and an aldehyde.

CONSTITUTION: The objective resin can be produced by reacting (A) a novolac phenolic resin modified with an oxygen-containing aromatic hydrocarbon formaldehyde resin and/or an aralkyl ether with (B) a compound having oxirane group and halogen (e.g. bromocresyl glycidyl ether) and (C) an aldehyde (e.g. formaldehyde). The above reaction is carried out preferably by reacting the component A with the component B in the presence of a catalyst such as tertiary amine, and reacting the reaction product with the component C in the presence of an alkali catalyst under heating.
