PURPOSE: To prevent positional staggering and misregistration from occurring at the time of pressing, by previously providing drilled holes between pattern layers of a tranfer sheet, at least before the transfer sheet is deformed by pressing a transferring pad against the sheet.
CONSTITUTION: The transfer sheet 1 is placed on base materials 4 for key caps so that the pattern layers 3 are brought into contact with the surfaces to be transferred thereon of the base materials 4 of the key caps. Then, drilled holes 6 are provided between the pattern layers 3 of the sheet 1, prior to pressing the sheet 1 from the side of a base sheet 2 by the transferring pad 5. A heat treatment is conducted in the condition wherein the surfaces to be transferred thereon of the base materials 4 make contact with the pattern layers 3, whereby desired patterns such as characters or symbols are produced on the surfaces of the base materials 4. Then, the base sheet 2 of the transfer sheet 1 is removed, whereby the key caps provided with the characters or symbols can be obtained.
