Abstract:

PURPOSE: Rice hulls are used as the major component for culture medium, the nitrogen content in the culture medium is limited and a basidiomycete is cultured in the resultant medium to produce a highly digestive rice hull feed.

CONSTITUTION: Rice hulls are used as the major component for culture medium and other components such as corn steep liquor are added thereto so that the nitrogen content becomes less than 0.6wt% on the basis of the rice hulls, thus preparing the culture medium. A basidiomycete such as Pleurotus ostreatus or Pholiota nameko is grown in the medium at 10W40°C until the conversion reaches 5W40%.
