PURPOSE: To raise vegetables under a nearly fully shaded state with adequate air permeation maintained, by partly or wholly covering the leaves and stems of such vegetables with a porous sheet high in shading rate, having a specific air permeability and suitable for blanching culture of vegetables such as asparagus.
CONSTITUTION: The objective agricultural/horticultural porous covering sheet 1 can be obtained by laminating (A) melt-blown nonwoven fabric consisting of black pigment-incorporated polypropylene with (B) spunbonded nonwoven fabric consisting of polypropylene. This sheet has the following characteristics: (1) air permeability: ≥1cc/cm2/sec; (2) shading rate: ≥95%; (3) easy to handle and suitable for blanching culture of vegetables such as white asparagus, white Welsh onion or Aralia cordata; (4) capable of nearly fully shading; (5) having enough air permeability not to have adverse effects on plant growth without causing dew condensation or high temperature and humidity in a space covered therewith. White Welsh onion 2 is raised by arranging this sheet 1 so as to hide both sides of the stem parts planted in a ridged mode.
