As for the method for producing sintered metal, the body to be sintered obtd. by forming a kneaded material of metal powder and a binder composed of organic matter or the body to be sintered obtd. by coating the surface of a base material composed of organic matter with metal powder is subjected to degreasing treatment at a preheating part 1 fed with reducing gas and is next subjected to sintering treatment at a heating part 2 fed with reducing gas. The reducing gas fed into the preheating part 1 contains gaseous nitrogen, gaseous hydrogen with ≤75% concn. and moisture by the amt. so as to regulate the dew point temp. to ≥5°C.
