Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain sodium antimonyltartrate useful as a reagent for optical resolution and an agent for the treatment of parasitic diseases in the form of crystal having uniform composition and high purity.
CONSTITUTION: Amorphous sodium antimonyltartrate is treated with a polar organic solvent, dissolved in preferably dimethyl sulfoxide and made to react with a lower alcohol to obtain sodium antimonyltartrate crystal. The use of the crystal having stable composition and high purity enables the high-efficiency and highly reproducible optical resolution by diastereomer process and the high-purity and highly reproducible optical resolution by chromatography process.
