PURPOSE: To obtain a spiral body with good accuracy on both inner diameter and pitch by winding a metal strip plate member by supporting both ends along a mandrel and approaching both end parts according to the gap reduction thereof.

CONSTITUTION: One end of a mandrel 10 is fitted to a chuck 13 and the other end is inserted into a bearing body 26. A strip sheet member 2 is run along the mandrel 10, a hole to be engaged of both end parts 3, 4 is engaged with the engaging pin 20 of a driving pin 18 and that 31 of a fixing pin 29 and extended by holding on the mandrel 10. The feeding amt. of a moving head 8 is decided from the relation of the azimuth of the mandrel 10 to the contraction amt. of a strip sheet member 2 to select a speed change gear. When rotary driving body and driving main body 35 are actuated, a chuck 13 is rotated, the driving pin 18 is also rotated and the strip sheet member 2 is twisted around the mandrel 10, but wound thereon with the moving head 8 advance by the rotation of a feeding screw body 37 by the gap reduced part of both end parts. Consequently both the inner diameter and pitch can be obtd. with good accuracy and efficiency.
