Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce the stainless steel sheet having excellent strength and corrosion resistance by controlling the finish temp. before the final 1 pass, final 1-pass start temp. and cooling start temp., etc., at the time of hot rolling.

CONSTITUTION: A stainless steel ingot is heated to a high temp. and is subjected to plural passes of rolling by which the ingot is finished to a product size. The final 1-pass start temp. of this hot rolling is set at ≥900°C and the final 1-pass draft at ≤20%. The ingot is cooled at ≥2°C/sec cooling rate from the water cooling start temp. above a-b line down to 500°C in the relation of the temp. during the course of the cooling in succession thereto with the content of the C in the steel. The ingot is then cooled at an arbitrary cooling rate. The stainless steel sheet which has the corrosion resistance equal to the corrosion resistance of a solutionized heat treating material and allows the control of the strength is stably produced.
