PURPOSE: To enable the production of a fabric having excellent stretchability and produce a stretchable fabric capable of reducing a change in product density based on the weaving density, facilitating the regulation of the product density and further the touch feeling or appearance, shape, etc., of the product and producing the appropriate product according to demands.

CONSTITUTION: This method for producing a stretchable fabric comprises a step for preparing a special textured yarn 10 containing a covering yarn 12 intertwisted around the outer periphery of a core yarn 11 comprising dissolvable and decomposable type fibers, a step for weaving the special textured yarn 10 as at least either of warp and weft yarns and affording a woven fabric intermediate product and a step for dissolving or decomposing the dissolvable and decomposable type fibers in the woven fabric intermediate product and providing the fabric.
