PURPOSE: To remove unnecessary substance, by applying a phosphor layer on the surface of a cover-plate and sintering the former layer at the assigned temperature, then by disposing a previously molded member made of glass having a low melting temperature in the counterpart of sealing region, and by heating and sealing the member and the cover-plate hermetically.
CONSTITUTION: On the surface of a cover-plate 2, a photoresist layer 8' mixed with dotted phosphor is disposed and formed in a matrix shape. Next, the photoresist layer 8' is sintered at 550°C, for an hour or so to form phosphor layer 8, on the surface of cover plate 2. Then, a previously formed sealing member 4a made of glass having a low melting temperature is disposed in the counterpart of sealing region; the member material 4a and a separately prepared sealing member of electrode-supporting substrate are exactly arranged, fixed and sealed hermetically by heating. Thereby, while sintering, the unnecessary substance in the phophor layer can be removed completely and the exfoliation of the phosphor layer can be prevented, because the sealing member can be formed without using the printing method.
