PURPOSE: To obtain a compound useful as a synthetic raw material for high polymers, medicines, agricultural chemicals and various organic chemicals in good yield, by reacting diethylamine with carbon dioxide in the presence of a palladium based catalyst in a solvent, e.g. carbon tetrachloride, etc.
CONSTITUTION: Diethylamine is reacted with carbon dioxide in the presence of a palladium based catalyst, e.g. dichlorobis(triphenylphosphine)palladium, in a solvent, e.g. carbon tetrachloride or carbon tetrachloride and acetonitrile, at 10W150°C under 0W100kg/cm2G pressure for 10W100hr to afford the aimed substance. The solvent is used in a volume of 0.2W20l based on 1mol diethylamine and the catalyst is used in an amount of 0.005W0.100mol palladium metal atom based on 1mol diethylamine to carry out the reaction.
