Title:
PRODUCTION OF THIN FERRITIC STAINLESS STEEL SHEET HAVING SMALL RIDGING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6156237
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a titled thin steel sheet in a method for subjecting a continuously cast slab of a ferritic stainless steel to hot rolling at a high temp. without cooling down to an ordinary temp. after casting by knowing the characteristics in the cooling process after casting and specifying a soaking treatment.

CONSTITUTION: The continuously cast slab of the ferritic stainless steel is made to attain a temp. region of 800W1,000°C within 30W300min time after the start of casting in the cooling process after casting. The relation between the soaking temp. and the soaking time is specified to the prescribed conditions in the shaded range enclosed by the straight lines AB, BC, CD, DA connecting the respective points of the points AWD in the figure, under which the steel is soaked. The hot rolling is then started at the temp. under the above-described conditions to form the hot-rolled steel sheet and thereafter the steel sheet is cold-rolled by the conventional method. The ferritic stainless steel sheet having extremely small ridging height is thus produced with the throwing energy smaller than in an ordinary stage.
