PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing Ti series and Ti-Al series casting, in which gate cutting can easily be executed without breaking cast product itself.
CONSTITUTION: In an investment casting method, an embrittling member 5 containing an element embrittling the gate part in a state of solid solution after casting molten metal is fitted around the gate part 4 of a wax pattern. Then a mold is formed around the wax pattern and in the condition of leaving the embrittling member in the mold, the wax pattern is melted out and the mold is burnt. At the same time of pouring the molten metal into the mold, the element embrittling the gate part is subjected to solid solution from the embrittling member by the heat quantity of the molten metal, and after the molten metal solidifies, the cast product is taken out from the mold and the gate cutting is executed. Then, after the molten metal runs up to the product part, the embrittling member comes into contact with the molten metal and into reaction with the molten metal and the embrittling element in this member is diffused to only the connecting parts of the gate 4 to a runner and the other casting plan parts 2 except the product. As a shock rupture strength in this limited position is lowered, the gate cutting can surely and easily be executed and the cast product 1 broken at the gate is not developed.
