Title:
PRODUCTION OF TITANIUM DIOXIDE PIGMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3802949
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially advantageously produce a titanium dioxide pigment having little aggregation of particles by filtering, washing and drying a titanium dioxide slurry under specified conditions for each process.
SOLUTION: A titanium dioxide slurry is filtered and washed under pressure while stirred, and the obtd. titanium dioxide slurry is subjected to a medium flow drying or spray drying process. Namely, a titanium dioxide slurry 5 in a source material tank 7 is supplied to an agitated pressure filtering machine 1 by a pump 8. After the slurry is filtered and dehydrated, the slurry as a returned slurry 18 is circulated to the source material tank 7. The filtrate 6 is discharged through a discharge port to outside. The amt. of a flesh washing water 9 corresponding to the amt. of the discharged filtrate 6 is supplied to the source liquid tank 7 to decrease the concn. of impurities in the source liquid with time, and washing is continued. Then the slurry 15 after washing is dropped to a fluidized layer comprising heated medium spheres 14, to which hot air 16 is blown to dry the slurry on the fluidized medium layer, or the slurry is dried by spraying.
