PURPOSE: To feed a hot melt resin into a tow at a constant rate by transferring the resin delivered at a constant rate from the delivery part of a resin feeder to a transfer roll and bringing the transferred resin into contact with the tow.
CONSTITUTION: A tow 2 is delivered from a creel 1, passed through a rubbing widening roll 3 and fed while its running speed is being regulated with a Nelson roll. The resin delivered from a resin delivery device 5 is passed through a heating pipe 6 and delivered at a constant rate of delivery from a delivery port 7 onto a transfer roll 8. The resin moves around the periphery of the rotating transfer roll 8, comes into contact with the tow 2 set so as to be contacted with the roll at an angle of 1-90° and penetrates into the tow 2. It is desirable that the amount of the resin with which the tow is impregnated is 10-80wt.%, and it is also desirable that the tow pass zone of the transfer roll is grooved.
