Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain in high purity and in an industrially advantageous way the subject compound useful as e.g. a synthetic resin remover, by esterification of glycerin with acetic acid in the presence of a metal oxide as catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: This compound, triacetin, is obtained by esterification of (A) glycerin with (B) acetic acid in the presence of (C) a catalyst, at least one kind of metal oxide selected from zinc oxide, strontium oxide, titanium dioxide, germanium oxide, tin oxide, vanadium oxide, selenium oxide, molybdenum oxide, tungsten oxide, manganese oxide, nickel oxide and iron oxide (esp. zinc oxide, tin oxide, tungsten oxide).
