Abstract:

PURPOSE: To readily obtain the subject compounds of high purity useful as a modifier, a coating material, etc., for thermosetting resins in a high yield by reacting a dinitrile with dicyandiamide in the presence of a base in an alcohol-based solvent under high pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A tetraoxaspiro ring-containing dinitrile represented by formula I (R is 1-2C) and a hydrocarbondinitrile shown by formula NC-R-CN (R is 1-8C) are reacted with dicyandiamide in the presence of a basic catalyst (e.g. sodium methoxide) in an alcohol-based organic solvent (e.g. methanol) at 110-170°C to obtain a tetraoxaspiro ring-containing diaminotriazine represented by formula II (R1 is formula III) and a hydrocarbondiaminotriazine shown by formula R1-R-R1. The pressure is about 7kg/cm2 at 110°C, about 12kg/cm2 at 150°C and about 19kg/cm2 at 170°C. Based on the dinitrile, 2.0-2.5 time molar dicyandiamide and 0.2-3.0 time molar catalyst are used.
