Abstract:
PURPOSE: To efficiently produce the subject substance useful as an intermediate for medicines, agricultural chemicals, industrial chemicals, etc., by heat-treating 2,4,6-trifluoroisophthalic acid in the presence of an alkali in an aprotic polar solvent.
CONSTITUTION: 2,4,6-Trifluoroisophthalic acid is heat-treated in the presence of an alkali (e.g. K2CO3) in an amount of 0.05-1mol based on 1mol 2,4,6- trifluoroisophthalic acid in an aprotic polar solvent (e.g. DMF or sulfolane) at 120-200°C for 0.3-10hr to produce the subject substance. The solvent is used in an amount within the range of preferably 1-100 times based on the 2,4,6- trifluoroisophthalic acid.
