Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the title unit to pull an optical fiber by heating the tip of a fine diameter crystal matrix by light concentration so designed that respective moving-and-holding devices for the crystal matrix and optical fiber are set up out of the atmosphere regulating part, thereby enabling said holding devices to be freely selected. CONSTITUTION:The internal space of a gas atmosphere regulating part 4 is filled with a gas. Thence, emitted ray from a light source 1 are collected in the interior of this part 4 to effect heating the tip of a fine diameter crystal matrix 5a and the tip of the matrix 5a is held and pulled. In this unit, respective moving-and-holding parts for the crystal matrix and optical fiber are set up below and above said regulating part 4. The holding part 5, holding the lower end of the matrix 5a, is vertically moved; while the holding part 6, holding the upper part of a single crystal optical fiber 6a pulled from said matrix 5a, is also vertically moved.
