Title:
PRODUCTION OF UNSATURATED POLYESTER-IMIDE RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01129014
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an unsaturated polyester-imide resin excellent in heat resistance and air dryability, by using specified compounds as a polyalcohol and a monoalcohol as starting materials for producing an unsaturated polyester-imide resin.

CONSTITUTION: An unsaturated dicarboxylic acid (A) (e.g., maleic anhydride) is reacted with a polyalcohol (B) based on a fatty acid-modified polyalcohol obtained by reacting 1 equivalent of a trihydric alcohol [e.g., tris(2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate] with 0.8W1.2 equivalents of a fatty acid (e.g., linseed oil fatty acid), a monoalcohol (C) based on 2-tetrahydrophthalimidoethanol of the formula and, optionally, a saturated carboxylic acid (D) (e.g., terephthalic acid). The obtained unsaturated polyester-imide resin can be used suitably for impregnation of coils of electrical machines, adhesives, etc.
