Abstract:

PURPOSE: To selectively produce a vinylcyclohexene in a high yield by cyclization dimerization of a conjugated diene.

CONSTITUTION: A conjugated diene is heated in the presence of, e.g. a compound represented by the formula [MLm]Xn[M is a transition metal; L is 2,2'-bipyridine or a substituted 2,2'-bipyridine; X is an anion such as a halogeno or acetylacetonyl; (m) and (n) are independently 1 or 3].
