Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an additive for paper making, consisting essentially of a water-soluble high polymer, a water-soluble cation monomer, an α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and (meth)acrylamide, capable of improving yield of filler and a sizing agent and enhancing paper strength.
CONSTITUTION: This additive for paper making is prepared by blending (A) 5-50wt.% water soluble high polymer substance such as starches, polyvinyl alcohols, celluloses and gums with (B) 0.1-20mol% of water-soluble cation such as dimethylaminoethyl (meth)acrylate or dimethylaminopropyl (meth)acrylate and/or their salts, (C) 0.1-15mol% α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid such as itaconic acid and/or its salt and (D) 99.8-65mol% acrylic amide and/or methacrylic amide so that total amount of monomers B, C and D is 50-95wt.%.
