PURPOSE: To prevent the appearance defect of inside circumferential surfaces and produce wheel rims with good efficiency by butt welding both end parts of cylindrical rim blank materials, and trimming the weld zone then buffing the same followed by working with rim shaping rolls.

CONSTITUTION: A metallic plate 1 having prescribed width and prescribed length is formed to an annular shape, and the butt parts are flash butt welded to form a cylindrical rim blank material 2. Next, the slag and burrs on the weld line are trimmed with a trimmer tool 4, after which the circumferential end part is cut to prescribed width. Thence, the inside circumferential surface of the material 2 is polished with a revolving buff 13. Following to this, the material 2 is pressed by a prescribed implement from the arrow direction in a flaring process, whereby it is flared. Next, the flared material 2 is subjected successively to prescribed roll forming, after which it is corrected of the inside circumferential diameter by an expanding process. Finally, the surfaces are polished by finish buffing, whereby the wheel rim for automobiles is completed.
