Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain yarn having high strength because of high yield of zirconia after calcination of yarn precursor, by using a reaction product of an aqueous solution of zirconium oxychloride and an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide as a spinning stock solution.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of zirconium oxychloride is reacted with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide preferably at 40W70°C. Then the reaction product is used as a spinning stock solution and spun in a cold state to form a yarn precursor. Finally the precursor is calcined to give the aimed yarn. The reaction product of zirconium oxychloride and hydrogen peroxide is preferably concentrated in an optional concentration degree in order to raise zirconia yield.
