Abstract:
PURPOSE: To selectively and readily obtain a bromofluoroalkene by reacting a monofluoroalkane with bromine.
CONSTITUTION: A monofluoroalkane of formula I (R1, R2 are H, 1-10C alkyl) (e.g. 1-monofluoroethane, 1-monofluoropropane) is reacted with bromine preferably at 500-700°C to obtain a 1,1-bromofluoroalkene of formula II. The bromine is preferably employed in an amount of ≥2 times moles based on the monofluoroalkane of formula I. The employment of a heatresistant glass reaction tube such as a pyrex glass tube or a quartz tube in the reaction is preferable because of preventing side reactions.
