PURPOSE: To make a program search for desired information by the use of only a rotary head by recording a signal which repeats the same pattern on a track, and comparing a detection period with its last detection period and detecting the repetition of the same pattern.
CONSTITUTION: Data generated by adding a block synchronizing signal, block address signal, and segment address signal to repetition data of a 2T pattern is obtained from a recording processor 15 in the time To between pieces of music instead of PCM audio data and this is recorded by heads HA and HB in areas AP of trackes 3A and 3B. This 2T data pattern seldom appears in a normal music signal repeatedly and continuously for a long period. Consequently, the difference between the part of the repetitive pattern and audio PCM data is obtained to easily detect the intermusic gap during reproduction.
